Build Your Own Residential Wind Turbine

Build Your Own Residential Wind Turbine

Although we haven't exhausted the list of available residential wind turbines, I wanted to make you aware of another direction you could go. A little bit more adventurous and not nearly as expensive, you could build your own residential wind turbine. It's amazing when you do a little bit of research and find out a lot of people are doing just that!

There are many resources available to guide you through the process step by step. One such resource is titled: Home Made Energy. The gentleman who wrote the book is Bill Ford and he doesn't just want to teach you how to make your own turbine ... he wants to teach you how to do it on the cheap! He promises to show you how to build your own residential wind turbine (1,000 watts) for less than $150.00 and a 3,000 watt wind turbine for about $220.00! That also includes the instructions and cost of building the tower.

I haven't read the book or gone through the process of building one of his turbines, but he claims you can make the three blades required for free in about an hour. He also provides tips on how to find a free forklift battery and recondition it for your power supply. He gives tips on what kind of generator you need and how to get the best prices.

Another resource available is Power4Home System to build your own wind generator. The author's name is John Russel and he claims that other plans he's seen are just too complicated. He promises easy to use instructions that will show you exactly how to build your own residential wind turbine (1,000 watts) for less than $200.00.

Are traditional residential wind turbines too expensive? Did you know you can build your own wind generator for less than $200 with Power4Home. Help the environment and save money!

Just wondering - can our electric company prohibit us from building our own personal wind turbine? Can they lobby (or whatever) to get a law passed to that effect? I was just reading that WPL (Wis) ssys they can't directly send wind-generated electricity to our home or business, but we can support the growth of wind power through their "Second Nature™ program. Thru this program, we can purchase 25% to 100% of wind turbine power from them for our homes--i.e, if we only purchase 25% worth of turbine power, the other 75% wo would be getting the electricity same as we do now? Some articles I have read say one would be surprised at home many people are building their own. Thanks, Annchi

At don't know if it can be attributed to lobbying, but I know many municipalities have banned residential wind turbines. If you're considering wind power for your home, make sure you contact your local government offcials to find out whether or not it's allowed.

A gradual increase is noted in the number of homeowners preferring to use wind energy. In addition to reducing their dependence of fossil energy and electricity, the wind energy will further help them in protecting the environment and planet. The residential wind turbines have made it much more convenient for the homeowners to generate, store and use wind power. But the restrictions imposed by the local authorities are having a negative impact on generation and usage of this clean and green energy source. A homeowner has to get approval from the authorities before installing a wind turbine on his property. It is time for the authorities to simplify the norms to make wind energy more popular.
